That's me. I was the apprentice, roadie and producer back then. But on this occasion it was my privilege to stand in for Ian Thompson, who was unwell at home near Manchester. Ian left the Service in the early 90s; he used to play penny whistle, flute, harmonica, and took over the bass in the rock n roll half of the set (when Steve was on lead guitar). I'm a Cdr these days but leaving the Service very shortly to emigrate to Canada and join the clean energy business (and build a solar-powered recording studio in my basement).
